Praying it Forward

I’m so glad that you have decided to join us in “Praying It Forward.” We truly believe that if we are to accomplish greater things for the Kingdom of God in the year ahead, that prayer will be one of the major factors moving us forward together as the body of Christ. Far too often we have overlooked the power that is available to us through prayer.  Prayer has the power to change things and the unified prayer of God’s people can change nations and the course of history. So today, as we begin to “Pray It Forward,” let’s go in expecting God to do great things!

Adoration:

Before rushing into prayer, asking God to do thing for us, let’s begin by taking some time in a prayer of adoration. Adoration is a time to respond to God in love for who He is and shows our deep respect for Him. Adore God for His holiness, righteousness, steadfast love, grace, mercy and so much more. If you feel unsure of how to pray a prayer of adoration, you can look at Psalm 145:1-6 and use it as a model as you praise and extol God!

 

Confession:

Next, take time for confession. Unconfessed sin in our life will hinder our prayers. God is faithful to forgive our sin if we will confess them. Ask God to forgive you for the sin in your life that you are aware of and to reveal any sin that you might not be aware of so that your prayers will be heard.

 

Today’s Prayer requests:

1: Let’s pray that God will reveal any area of our lives that are being filled with anything other than the Spirit of God.

2: Pray that we as the body of Christ will be continually “being filled” by the Holy Spirit of God.

3: Pray that the Holy Spirit moves in dynamic ways in and through His Church at First Baptist in the year ahead.

4: Pray that our expectations of what the Spirit of God will do in the next year will not be limited to our experiences in the past.
