I trust that these days of “Praying It Forward” have been as much of a blessing and encouragement to you as it has been to me. As I prepared for this time, I was reminded of a study that I did through the Old Testament years ago. One of the main things that jumped off the pages of scripture to me at that time was God’s response to the unified cry of His people. Over and over again as God’s people cried out to Him in a unified voice, He heard them and responded. From the deliverance out of Egypt, to the accounts in Judges, and all through history, God has moved when His people have cried out to Him. That’s what Praying It Forward has been, a time when we as God’s people have cried out to Him in unity, for things that only He can do. I know that today is the last day of Praying It Forward, but let’s continue to pray every day this year that God will do His great work in us and through us for His glory!
Adoration:
You have probably heard the statement, “I can’t say enough good things about them.” While we may feel that way about certain people, that statement is true about God. No matter how hard we try, we could never tell the totality of how good God is to us, but let’s not let that keep us from trying. Let’s take some time today to let God know how we feel about Him. His greatness exceeds our understanding, but He loves to hear us speak of His glory. So, take some time today and just adore the God who holds us in a special place in His heart. Praise Him for His greatness and the love that He directed toward us even when we were not so lovely. Take time to recount when He has intervened in your life and rescued you. This God, who created everything, knows you by name and He chose you. Adore Him today for all His marvelous works. (Psalm 77:10-14)
Confession:
Confession is cleansing, refreshing, and freeing. One thing we should remember is that true confession is always coupled with repentance. Repentance is a change in both thought and behavior. Confession that is not coupled with repentance leads to recurring sin. Repentance with confession let’s God know that by His grace and with His help we have no intention of returning to our previous sin. Confession will cleanse you, and tied to repentance we are free from sin’s bondage and refreshed in God’s grace. Spend time today confessing anything in your life that may be holding you back from the freedom we have in Christ.
Today’s Prayer requests:
1: Pray that God will give us a clear vision for what He intends to do in the year ahead.
2: Pray that we have eyes to see like He sees.
3: Pray that we will not be short sighted and that the tomorrows before us won’t hinder us.
4. Pray that the Holy Spirit will give us vision to see and dream of things far into the future.
5. Pray for wisdom and boldness to move forward in faith even though we can’t see the end.
