Spiritual growth requires change, and change is brought about as the Holy Spirit uses the Word of God in our lives to renew our minds and transform our lives, so that our heart becomes Jesus’ heart. First Baptist Church is driven by five biblical purposes that are presented for the church in Scripture. They are basically captured in the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.
To help each believer toward a purpose-driven life, we offer studies geared to equip believers at whatever stage they are in their Christian life with the tools necessary for continuing spiritual maturity. We call them Christian Life and Service Seminars, or CLASS. The focus of each CLASS can be represented by a baseball diamond.
- CLASS 101 (Belonging) -- Studies in what we believe and how those beliefs shape what we do and why.
- CLASS 201 (Becoming) -- Presents the habits necessary for on-going growth toward Christlikeness
- CLASS 301 (Building) -- Assists in the discovery of how each believer has been "thumbprinted" by God for the good of His body, the church.
- CLASS 401 (Bridging) -- Equips every believer to give a witness to Jesus Christ to others.
